INITIAL CONTACT
All initial contact between myself and clients occurs through the use of forms. To contact me about enrolling in psychotherapy, please complete the form on this page (above). To contact me about scheduling a consultation, please complete one or both forms on the Consultation page of this website.
I respond to form submissions through email. Once we have connected, feel free to communicate with me through email about scheduling, basic information or brief questions. Email messages sent outside my office hours will be answered as soon as possible (e.g., within 1-2 business days).
TEXT MESSAGING
After we connect through email, I will provide you with a cellular phone number by which to reach me during business hours. Text messages can be used for scheduling, basic information or brief questions. Text messages sent outside my office hours will be answered as soon as possible (e.g., within 1-2 business days).
NOTE: Using text messages or email to share personal information may involve risk. Per my understanding, email service providers (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook) each have unique security measures that may not be considered fully secure or HIPAA-compliant.* Please use caution if sharing personal information.
*The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a federal law that protects the privacy and security of health information.
CONFIRMATION
As a courtesy and a reminder, I send a text message to clients on the day before their scheduled appointments. Although a response is not required, it is helpful if you let me know your intention to attend (ex: Thumbs up, yes, see you then... any response will do!). On the occasion that I do not send a confirmation, please assume I will be present unless I inform you otherwise. If you prefer not to receive confirmations, please let me know.
CANCELLATION
Whenever possible, I will provide advanced notice of my need to cancel or to change appointment days or times. Please let me know (when possible) if you also need to cancel or to make changes. Unless we have agreed otherwise, your session time is reserved for you, meaning it is not offered to other clients. Cancellations less than 24 hours in advance may result in a fee, especially if recurrent. Emergencies, accidents, and illness are considered exceptions.
TELEHEALTH (for new and existing therapy clients only):
I hold therapy sessions using doxy.me which is a free, internet-based, HIPAA-compliant* platform used for secure "video chat" meetings. You can access my virtual waiting room using any device that has a camera and a microphone (e.g., computer, cell phone, tablet) along with your chosen web browser (ex: Google Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox).
Click on the following link or type it into your web browser: doxy.me/lexi
Note: Although doxy asks you to type your full name before entering my waiting room, I suggest using a first name or initials to further protect your confidentiality. Similarly, you can temporarily cover your camera while checking in to prevent your photograph from being taken. If I am still in session with another person, you can enter at any time without interrupting.
*The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a federal law that protects the privacy and security of health information.
CLIENT PORTAL (for new and existing therapy clients only):
I use an internet-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) called TherapyNotes to input and store client information (such as initial assessment, progress notes, treatment plans, billing information). TherapyNotes also provides an online portal that allows me to make documents and forms available for clients to review and sign.
NEW clients will receive a "welcome" email with a link that allows them to sign up using an email and password of their choosing.
CURRENT clients can sign into their portal account at: www.therapyportal.com/p/lexit
ONLINE MEETINGS (all non-therapy clients):
I use the free online meeting platform Google Meet (followed by Zoom). We can meet online with your camera off while mine remains on (I understand some people dislike being on camera!). We can also speak by phone, if you prefer. Please let me know if you would like to use a different method, and we can discuss options. For Google Meet (or Zoom), I will start a meeting and will send you an entry code. FaceTime may be used for clients who have access to an Apple iPhone, Apple Mac or Apple iPad (provided our operating systems are compatible).
