EXAMPLE 1: THE FENG SHUI BOX

Take this simple example of random stuff... This is a box I keep my feng shui cure stuff in (like red nail polish, mini mirrors, and crystals). Notice the broken dish, unused glue sticks, a single milk cap ring, newspapers (think "old news"), and general messiness on top of it. More on "cures" later.

Besides being broken, the flower dish could have easily cut someone (a hazard). The two red and black things are ladybug solar lights that used to be in the front yard, which to me represented finding a new love... until one had the stem break off. Also, they quit working. Those were not messages I wanted to send out to the Universe! This mess has since been remedied.

Another tip from Karen Rauch Carter[1] is to have only empty space under your bed. Meaning N-O-T-H-I-N-G. From what I understand, the things we keep under our beds impact us by emiting the types of negative energy that are mentioned in many of my examples. This can lead to poor sleep which affects our overall health. Before learning this tip, I had three underbed storage containers chock-full of stuff like disorganized gift wrapping supplies, unused greeting cards, books (dead energy!), and decorations that had nowhere to go. M had one under her bed too with tons of old toys and separated art supplies that included a million tiny pieces. It took me several hours, but I sorted and reduced everything down to two half-filled banker boxes with the decorations (which I later mostly donated) and with the gift wrapping supplies and greeting cards. The plastic bins were also donated.

WHAT NOT TO DO:

Store things under your bed.
